Rockabilly Inspired Hairstyles

Hey guys!

So recently I've been loving vintage / rockabilly hairstyles, which I have become some of my "go to" looks. They look somewhat challenging but when you get the hang of it then are so easy and look amazing, cute and pretty!
I will be leaving links at the bottom to the videos and YouTube channels which inspired and helped me learn!

Pompadour

This style has to be my most work look. It's quick, easy and looks lovely for when you want your hair/ fringe off your face ( like on those bad hair days). This stlyle can be worn with your hair down or up in a ponytail or messy bun and accessorised with a bandanna or small fower (or any clip in hair accessory like a bow or headpiece).

Front Pin Curl

This has to be my second vintage "go to" style. It takes a few attempts and practises to achieve a satisfactory curl, but once you're happy with it, it looks cute and gives you a whole vintage look. Like the Pompadour this style can be worn with your hair up or down with curly hair and accessorised with a flower, bandanna or headpiece. When I do this style I tent to just do a single curl at the front of my head- but you can get creative and add multiple curls to create a more artistic Pin Up Rockabilly look (similar victory rolls).

Pomp Curl

This style is cross between the Pompadour and Front Pin Curl. Instead of rolling from the side you roll the hair back to create the pompadour and curl (will be explained in the link at the end). This style looks great pinned up and really emphasises the whole vintage look. Again Like the other two this looks great with a Flower, Bandanna or headpiece.

Victory Rolls

This style has to be one of the most common and iconic vintage and Rockabilly hairstyles. Every time I see pictures I just simply fall in love! For me I feel that this is a more going out rather than casual style  but its lovely neither the less! (I've never really attempted it as much as the others so sorry if it's not top quality).  After many experiments this image was the outcome and the once I am most proud of!
As the rolls are positioned at the top of my head I decided to accessorise with a small flower but like the other three any hair piece, scarf or bandanna will look lovely with this style and really give you a whole Vintage, Retro and Rockabilly look! (I shall defiantly be wearing it when I go out to Rock N Roll nights or parties).

I'm Late I'm Late! For A Very Important Date!!

Hello Everybody! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while! I've been so busy with coursework, Rehearsals and work ( yes I got a job ..YAY!!) As this is the first Sunday I'm not doing over time I thought it was time for a nice blog post!

So this week it was my friend Charlotte's birthday and she decided to have an Alice in Wonderland themed party... Tea party, As the host she became the mad hatter and assigned everybody a part. Luckily for me I was given Alice, which is nice simple and nothing too drastic ( as I had to leave the party for work and then return back  later). Here is my "tutorial" on my face and outfit for Alice.....

Make up:

Face:
Collection Lasting perfection concealer "2 cool medium"
Rimmel wake me up foundation "Ivory"
Collection Lasting perfection power "2 medium"
Rimmel blusher " 05 live pink" (any light pink will do)

Blend these in as normal like your everyday make up look, or lighter if you're going for the more natural look.

 Eyes:
For this look I started by using a light blue eye shadow and then getting a slightly darker shade a blended my way to the outer corners of my eyes, before adding the darkest shade in the creases to give a smoky eye effect. After this you can add some eye liner if you want to, I tried it and I don't really suit eye-liner so I just went over it with eye shadow again so its is a faint line instead of a bold one.

Lips:

Baby lips "cherry me"
L'oreal caresse "06 Aphrodite Scarlet"
Pink lip gloss ( from Avon)

For the lips you can use any pale pinks or nude to give a natural effect.

Hair:

This part if optional!! I just curled my hair with a curling iron to get the curls she has but this part is entirely up to you and what you like!! If you hare going to use heat to style remember to use heat protect sprays!!!

Outfit:

Dress- Primark
Socks- Primark
Belt- New Look
Shoes- Topshop
Necklace- Gift (any small pendant will do)
Headband- Claire's accessories

And that's the finished look! Feel free to ask me any questions and leave any comments! and I'll see you all very soon!
